Time for Grooming!!!

S. Janneker Lawrence Daniel,
Assistant Professor of English,
Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering.

Necessity, they say is the mother of invention.

The proverb proved true yet again as DCE witnessed the evolving of hundreds of students from mere spectators into active volcanoes ready to burst with eagerness to mould themselves into dynamic and vibrant individuals and groups ready to achieve something in the society. The EEE block and the S&H block alike were teeming with the DCE students in prime formal wear and the best of attitude. It is not everyday that the world sees such a change of atmosphere and hence we thought it best to give you also a glimpse into the glory we enjoyed for a couple of days.

Engrossed in a group activity

Interaction between two teams

Racing against time

Here come the teachers who motivated the students and guided them on various aspects of the programme.
Mrs. Rajakumari, the HOD of the Department of English
Mr. Edin Brow, the Poet of DCE
Dr. Palanivelrajan, the humble genius
Author
S. Janneker Lawrence Daniel

We are proud of these faculty members and the students who shone through the days of the competition. We believe that this would have prepared them adequately to meet the challenges of clearing the interview processes of various companies.

Creativity at its best!

Creativity used as a method of a gentle reminder to insist on punctuality. A must see for every staff member. Enjoy!

Let us know if you have made the students in your class do similar activities on occasions.

Communication is an Art

An Art of Excellence by Sarah Kay

SARAH KAY is a New Yorker, a poetry writer and reader, a spoken word poetry teacher.  A performing poet since she was 14 years old, Sarah Kay is the founder of Project VOICE, an organization that uses spoken word poetry as a literacy and empowerment tool.

"If I should have a daughter, instead of Mom, she's gonna call me Point B ... " began spoken word poet Sarah Kay, in a talk that inspired two standing ovations at TED2011. She tells the story of her metamorphosis — from a wide-eyed teenager soaking in verse at New York's Bowery Poetry Club to a teacher connecting kids with the power of self-expression through Project V.O.I.C.E. — and gives two breathtaking performances of "B" and "Hiroshima."

Her Famous Quotes:

“I want [my daughter] to look at the world through the underside of a glass-bottom boat, to look through a microscope at the galaxies that exist on the pinpoint of a human mind.”

“When you open your hands to catch and wind up with only blisters and bruises; when you step out of the phone booth and try to fly and the very people you want to save are the ones standing on your cape; when your boots will fill with rain, and you'll be up to your knees in disappointment. And those are the very days you have all the more reason to say thank you. Because there's nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it's sent away.”
